Having grown up in Wisconsin I learned about the beer culture at an early age. The old world German brewmasters certainly left their mark on the state, as well as the Fox Cities. After many years of large breweries ruling the lager landscape, recent years have seen a resurgence of microbreweries and the growth of smaller breweries.
Appleton celebrates this tradition with the third Craft Beer Walk through Appleton’s beautiful downtown and riverfront on Saturday, May 19 from 3-8 pm. Stop at participating venues on the tour to sample delicious craft beers. The day is designed for true beer aficionados and novice beer drinkers alike. Participants will stroll past unique shopping and dining places while walking from venue to venue – event organizers noted you should feel free to stop in or make dinner reservations for after you finish the walk.
You can pick your route from 4 different options and register either at your favorite watering hole or register online. Tickets are only $20/person (additional online processing fee of $2 covers the cost of processing your payment) and includes FREE samples of two brews at each venue on your walk, a commemorative Craft Beer Walk logo pint glass, and walk wristband (the pint glass and wristband are both required to receive samples at each).
Although you don’t have to try all the free samples on your tour, it may be hard to resist! Organizers invite you to just relax and enjoy a leisurely day, relishing the best of the best from across Wisconsin. You may even wish to buy a pint of your new favorite brew and relax a little longer on your walk.
A variety of public art can be enjoyed as you make your way from venue to venue to taste the various craft beersyou will encounter. A small portion of ticket sales supports Creative Appleton, Inc. which helps fund public art in downtown Appleton. This event allows you to enjoy our outstanding downtown and riverfront – and, of course, truly remarkable craft beers – and you are helping make our city even more beautiful for future events.
If you would like overnight accommodations for the Craft Beer Walk, the Franklin Street Inn would be happy to host you. Our bed and breakfast is just blocks from the activities. Park in our free customer parking and enjoy the event knowing it is just a short walk back to your room or suite. After a relaxing night’s rest you’ll be treated to an exceptional full breakfast to start off the day.
