Fall Fun in Appleton – 2023

September 1, 2023 marked our 7th anniversary as owners and innkeepers at the Franklin Street Inn Bed and Breakfast and what a joy it continues to be!  We enjoy greeting our guests while maintaining and updating this grand old Victorian home. This year included a new floor, new exterior door and touch-ups to the Turret Suite.

Keith also installed a new privacy fence between the parking The white lattice fence along the right side of the picture is adorned with glowing solar light caps on the posts. You are our are reason for being and have contributed to the Inn’s continued success!

 Fall Fun

Lori and I are always thrilled to celebrate our business anniversaries in our favorite season: Fall!  To us, there is nothing better than grabbing a warm mug of  hot chocolate, apple cider, or our fresh ground and brewed coffee, and sitting on the elegant wrap-around porch or garden patio, taking in the crisp autumn air.  We enjoy watching the leaves change, and the Fox Cities definitely has plenty of leaves!  There are also plenty of parks and hiking trails to enjoy them.

people watching baseball gameAs an avid baseball fan, Keith sometimes takes a radio or iPad out on the patio or porch. With the Milwaukee Brewers clinching the N.L. Central Division this year, it should be an exciting few weeks as they prepare for the play-offs. Keith also enjoys catching other games as the teams play their way into and through the playoffs to the Fall Classic.

Another great highlight of Fall is the college football and volleyball seasons.  Watching the college games on television is where you will often find us on Saturday afternoons while we wait to check in guests.  We cheer on the Wisconsin Badgers and our alma maters, and sometimes tune in to other good college contests. If you haven't had a chance to see the #1 ranked Badger Women's volleyball team check them out, you won't be disappointed in the action!

Fall Means the Pack is Back

Of course we are Packer fans as well. With Appleton so close to Green Bay, much of the local buzz is centered on the Packers.  We are grateful for the fans who stay with us, both Packer fans and rival fans. They come for the games, to see Lambeau Field, and to have a Green Bay experience.  While they are here they enjoy the charm of the Franklin Street Inn and the city of Appleton.  Most fans enjoy the traditional Packers' tailgate parties of brats, beer, and lots of cheese. Occasionally, we serve a Wisconsin Brat and Cheese strata for breakfast on game day, who can resist! We especially enjoy meeting the variety of football fans from all over the country.  We have even hosted Packer fans from Germany, Canada, and Brazil!
