After a very busy July and early August at the Franklin Street Inn Bed and Breakfast, Lori and I found ourselves with a rare Friday night with time to enjoy Art on the Town in downtown Appleton last week. We treated ourselves to a fish fry and microbrews at Wooden Nickel on College Avenue, and then meandered through downtown enjoying the beautiful summer evening. Art on the Town this week was a Paint on the Town theme and included an opportunity for folks to try their hands at painting a picture for free on Houdini Plaza. We decided to partake in this opportunity. Our experience was simply placing a board on an easel, selecting a couple of brushes, adding a squeeze of a few different colors of the paint provided onto a paper plate, and trying to create a personal masterpiece. It was a fun evening, painting our pictures on the plaza while enjoying the music of acoustic guitars and singing.
You can see from the picture above that we could use a little instruction and some slightly better materials with which to create our painting masterpieces. This is something you can experience by joining us for a GROUP ART EXPERIENCE in the Garden at the Franklin Street Inn.
The Group Art Event will take place Saturday, October 7, 2017 on the Garden lawn (pictured in the banner photo above) at the Inn from 4:00 – 6:00 pm (inclement weather will shift the event indoors at the Inn).
LINDA SCHRAGE, ARTIST & OWNER OF MUD & PRINTS will lead the Group Art Workshop experience that is like no other in the area. Linda will allow each participant to create a unique painting of their own! Linda believes that everyone’s style is different, so why should our masterpieces be the same? Canvases, paints and brushes will be provided; or feel free to bring your own surface to paint on. You can see some of Linda’s work at https://www.mudandprints.com

The experience is reserved first for guests choosing to stay at the Inn on Friday, October 6, or Saturday, October 7, or both nights. We are accepting reservations for the event through September 22 for this unique experience before opening spots to other participants.

Now that our first full year as innkeepers comes to a close, we are getting to know more about the Fox Cities and the many opportunities here. As we continue to meet other local artists and business owners in the area, we hope to be able to offer other fun group events and experiences at the Franklin Street Inn in the months and years to come.
