Appleton, ‘One Great Place’ in March

There’s a whole lot to do in Appleton all year long. The City of Appleton works hard to offer an array of experiences for both its residents and its visitors.  We’re off to a good start in 2020!  After several successful plays, concerts, athletic events, and shows in January and February, here are some of the events topping the list for the next few weeks.

Wrapping up February

LEAP LOCAL all day Saturday, February 29th!What are you planning to do on your extra day this year? Downtown Appleton businesses are giving you a reason to leap for joy – they will be offering deals so big they can only be offered once every four years! So don’t miss out, plan to leap from one business to another to be entered to win Downtown Appleton Gift certificates!

A late February event rolls its way into March, The 2020 Wisconsin State Poolplayers Association State Championships!   The event will be held at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center in downtown Appleton. It will host all singles, scotch, and team events from Wednesday, February 26th through Sunday, March 1st. In Early March

One early March event occurs Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:30 pm when the TAP PACK,  a high-energy tap show, visits the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. Inspired by the Rat Pack era, get ready for live swing music and tap dance accompanied by witty banter. The Tap Pack infuses a new, invigorating energy to old school cool.  The new Kings of Swing will brighten your winter days. You can purchase tickets online or call 920-730-3760 for more information.

If Tap Dance and Swing Music is not your style, perhaps YAMATO – The Drummers of Japan is more your tune.  Don’t miss YAMATO’s virtuosity, strength, spirit and sheer endurance. This group brings a thrilling, high-energy and explosive interpretation of the centuries old Taiko tradition. Audience spirits are lifted to new levels with the drummers’ infectious sense of joy. This entertaining group lights the fire of passion held within our bodies. They do this by honoring the drumbeat like the heartbeat, the very pulse of life. Another presentation by the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, YAMATO takes the stage at 400 W College Ave on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 pm.

Coming in Mid-March

On March 14th , The New York Tenors perform with the Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra . You can experience the memorable musical moments and magic of New York at 7:30 pm in Thrivent Hall (Fox Cities Performing Arts Center). The New York Tenors feature America’s beloved tenor Daniel Rodriguez, affectionately known as the “singing cop” as he was called to duty after the tragic events of 9/11/2001. Rodriguez helped heal the nation through song. The New York Tenors will take you on a truly entertaining journey through the one of the Greatest Cities in the world – New York, New York!

Perhaps comedy is more your style! Jon Reep takes the Stage on Friday, March 20 at the Kimberly-Clark Theater, so get ready to laugh! Jon Reep is often recognized as the winner of “Last Comic Standing”, from Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend”, and from “Comedy Central Presents: Jon Reep.”  Reep also appeared in “Late Friday”, “Pit Stop Comedy, and “Rodney” among other shows. Lately, he has been seen in Dodge’s popular ad campaign as the “Hemi Guy”.  Now hear him live in the intimate Kimberly-Clark Theater at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center as you laugh and ask “That thing gotta Hemi?” Reep’s comedy is appropriate for ages 13 and up.

Another mid-March event, Appleton’s Community Public Market returns to the Fox Cities Exhibition Center. Community Public Market logo for Appleton includes several elements depicting items at the marketplace.The Community Public Market debuted in February and returns on Saturday, March 21 from 9 am – 3 pm.  You can explore vendors and offerings in Farm Market Square, Artisan Alley, Wellness Walkway, Tasty Trail, Retail Road, and Play & Learn Lane.  Walk the Community Public Market during the winter months, certainly you’ll feel transported to the familiar outdoor Farm Market atmosphere. This is where community neighbors come together to offer a taste of the Fox Cities.  Experience live music, retail shopping, tasty food, family-friendly activities and so much more! If you can’t make the Market in March, maybe you can make on April 18th, when it opens again from 9 am – 3 pm.

More in Late March

SPRING INTO STYLE on LADIES’ DAYSaturday, March 28.  Grab your girlfriends and get your tickets for a fun-filled Ladies’ Day of fashion, food and fun!  Enjoy a sit-down breakfast, activities, goody bag, raffles, pop-up shopping and more. Tickets will be on sale for only $25 the beginning of March at participating venues! Events to Kick off your April

Another fun event in Appleton is The 8th Annual Mini Golf On The Town In Downtown Appleton!  This mini-golf event takes place on Saturday, April 4 from 1 pm -6 pm. The event will feature 27 “Mini Golf on the Town” locations. Each participating bar provides a golf hole in their establishment. Additionally, ea, and generally builds a theme and special offer around their hole. You’ll be able to contact  participating bars to register a team.  Each team will play 9 holes on one of three courses and you will enjoy a “19th hole” party starting at 6 pm. The Appleton Show and MarketApril 4-5, Sat 9 am-5 pm, Sun 10 am-4 pm

Taking place at The Grand Meridian Banquet Hall (2621 N Oneida St in Appleton), come and visit 25 attractively designed booths by well known, quality assured and helpful Antique dealers.   The wide array of merchandise for sale includes Furniture, Pottery, Home decor, Garden & Decorative art, Glassware ,Clocks, Linens & Quilts, Hand woven carpets & rugs, Native American, Sporting goods, Maps, Toys, Advertising, Fine art and Jewelry plus more.

Admission is only $6 and is good for both days of the sale. Children under 12 are free and parents are encouraged to bring their family along.  Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome.
