Franklin Street Inn is part of Appleton’s Art on the Town on Friday, June 21 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Twenty different businesses will each host at least one artist who will exhibit their art and often sell pieces, too. You may either walk or ride the trolley to each business. Parking is complimentary at the Edison Center lot #19. The trolley allows you to stop and picks you up approximately every 20 minutes. Parking is also available at this inn at 318 E. Franklin St or at our other inn at 310 N. Durkee St. which is the adjoining lot.
Celeste Holly will demonstrate the peyote stitch bracelet and the blooming crystal bracelet. She will also have jewelry for sale.
Nancy Hoover has been creating vintage charm since 2001. She has a variety of vintage inspired creations for sale: toys, magnets, signs, and more! Brenda Van Handel’s talent is a Native American reproduction pottery. Her unique paintings are done in oil with a palette knife and acrylic medium.
This evening is the first of four special monthly Art on the Town events. Do mark your calendars for these third Fridays: July 19, August 16, and September 20. Complimentary inn tours are offered, a door prize drawing, and refreshments!

When planning a trip, it’s important to consider activities that will be of interest to the other people you’re traveling with. This can become a tedious task if you’ve never visited your destination in the past. So in the interest of diversifying your choices, we’ve compiled some of the best activities that the Fox Cities have to offer in Wisconsin.
For a getaway with the girls:
If your aim is to spend the weekend with the girls, make sure to take a stroll down College Avenue. There’s a wide variety of boutiques and restaurants that will allow you and your friends to indulge in a relaxing stint of retail therapy.
For a cultured night on the town, check out what’s showing at the Fox City Performing Arts Center for a live theater experience you won’t soon forget. Seek out relaxation at the Fox Cities’ numerous spas, parks or even have an adventure at the roller rink!
If food and fun is your aim on your weekend getaway, there are numerous places that we recommend to explore! Check out Cleo’s Brown Beam Tavern for great music, a relaxed atmosphere, and some of the most affordable (and delicious) drinks in town. Another must-try is Houdini’s Escape Gastropub: the décor offers homage to the former Appleton resident, Harry Houdini, and a cozy atmosphere with incredible food. And if you make it in, try the Buffalo Shrimp – you won’t regret it!
When you’re out with the guys:
The Fox Cities offer a wide variety of activities that will entertain the men in your party. With numerous golf courses, fishing options, and the beloved Fox Cities Stadium (go Rattlers!), Fox Cities acts as a haven for sports lovers.
Another way to guarantee a memorable experience is to visit the EAA Airventure Museum – one of the most extensive aviation attractions in the world! With more than 200 historic planes, this museum could keep you fascinated for days! For a night out, swing by the Comedy Quarter Club for great food and laughs.
For bar food and drinks, make sure to check out the 2 Buck Bar, an establishment that stays true to its name with the most affordable drink specials in town. Looking for some legendary BBQ? Enjoy the tasty options that Famous Dave’s BBQ have to offer.
